Biocore Environmental Ltd was founded in 2010 with the aim to provide biosolids services and generate renewable energy. Since the Company started we have grown into one of the largest biosolids management companies in the Irish market now catering for over 100,000 tonnes of both municipal and private biosolids. The company has replaced many thousand tonnes of chemical fertilisers and reduced the cost to our customers.
The renewable energy division has recently completed the development and sale of the 2nd largest energy crop Anaerobic Digestion plant in the UK. The plant utilised the latest in gas upgrade technology to enable it to inject over 20 million cubic meters of renewable gas (biomethane) into the UK national grid. Construction is completed on our first Irish renewable energy project, a 1 MW Anaerobic Digestion plant, with the facility due to be fully commissioned in March 2019.

The BUCANIER Project – (Building Clusters and Networks in Enterprise & Research)
BUCANIER aims to support small businesses on the Irish Sea border until June 2020. It seeks to increase innovation capacity within SMEs and social enterprises by collaborating with Higher Education institutions and other public bodies to boost productivity across Ireland and Wales. The project is working in the key growth sectors of the Welsh and Irish economies, food and drink, life sciences and renewable energy.
In 2018, Calor launched BioLPG as a new renewable fuel in Ireland. BioLPG is identical in appearance and performance to conventional LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). It is transported and stored in the same tanks and used in the same boilers and appliances as conventional LPG but there is one important difference – the production process.
BioLPG is made from a mix of sustainably-sourced renewable and waste materials and is made in a manner which promotes sustainable land use in accordance with European guidance. Importantly, it is fully traceable and certified in this regard.
BioLPG can be used for any industrial or commercial thermal process, and a range of applications, such as heating, catering, drying and even as the fuel of choice for forklift operators. Notably, BioLPG is now used to power many homes across the island of Ireland.
The most obvious benefit is that of carbon savings. Calor BioLPG has delivered savings of up to 90% in greenhouse gas emissions. This is providing a major boost to Ireland’s efforts to achieve targets both in terms of emissions reduction and renewable heat deployment. Celignis is a dedicated biomass analysis laboratory that provides our clients with the most precise data to allow them to make the best use of their biomass feedstocks and optimise their biomass conversion processes.
We offer a range of analysis services relevant to the bioeconomy. These include:
– Properties related to biomass combustion (e.g. calorific value, chlorine, ash etc.).

Dorset Green Machines, a Dutch machine manufacturing enterprise. Our focus is on commercially attractive solutions for treatment of biomass waste products.
We are specialists in using available residual heat for drying biomasses, such as manure, digestate and sewage sludge. Dorset produces anything from plug-and-play solutions up to complete biosolids production factories. Dorset manufactures complete pelleting plants in plug-and-play container solutions. Ethanol Europe is an Irish company operating Europe’s largest ethanol biorefinery. The biorefinery is held through Ethanol Europe’s operating subsidiary, Pannonia Ethanol, based in Hungary, where grain is a key agricultural crop and in plentiful local supply. The plant processes over a million tons of feed corn annually, sourced directly from farms in the area. Since commencing production in 2012, the facility has doubled in size.
The company’s speciality is processing corn kernels from maize. The components of the kernel, fibre, starch, protein and oil, are broken down into materials with a wide range of applications.
The company’s foundation process is production of ethanol. The Hungarian plant produces 500 million litres of ethanol annually, supplying 10% of the European market. This ethanol reduces carbon emissions from petrol by 70%. The corn ethanol technology makes possible the manufacturing of renewable materials in a cost-efficient manner.
The most significant co-product produced by Ethanol Europe is DDGS: an enriched protein feed for animals. The plant produces 325,000 tons of DDGS per annum.

Green Gas Certification Scheme (GGCS) or Guarantee of Origin has completed the design stage by consortium of Dena and DBFZ the German energy agency. We are moving into the implementation phase of the GGCS during 2019.
The Gas Injection policy along with the business and connection arrangements have been positively supported by the CRU and GNI, towards enabling the development and support network of Central Grid Injection facilities.
The ambition of RGFI members is to have 20% Renewable Natural Gas in the gas grid by 2030, with strong engagement and support from industry consumer of gas to achieve this target. A large number of industries have mandatory targets to be carbon neutral by 2030.
The RGFI are progressing towards developing a Bio Fertiliser for digestate, to provide accurate data and information on standards, values and quality for the bio-fertiliser (digestate).

The Wood Fuel Quality Assurance Scheme (WFQA) certifies suppliers of woodchip, firewood, wood pellets and wood briquettes to the latest European quality standards while also ensuring that all wood fuel is sourced from sustainably managed sources.
Wood fuel quality is a vital component of ensuring that boilers, stoves and CHP units run efficiently and reliably, as well as ensuring that combustion is complete and that emissions to air meet all the required standards.
The WFQA also ensures that customers are provided with adequate information about the wood fuel they are purchasing in terms of weight, moisture content and size profile.
